Our game is running on PennMUSH version 1.8.8 patchlevel 0, with Faraday's Softcode Package FS3 2nd edition installed on top.

We have customized the system a little, modifying some commands and adding in some others, to make life easier for you. (For a full list of softcode commands, see +help in game).

Wiki Commands

Use the +wiki command to create wiki code for your own character page. Please note that - while the command fills out a lot of info automatically - some parts will have to be edited manually, like the parents info. BGs are not public on this game. But you can set a public_bg attribute on yourself, which will show in your +finger and your +profile. If a public_bg is set on your character bit, it will be included in the +wiki output.

+wiki <name> will create wiki code for another character.

If you use a logger (see below), you can use the command +log/wiki <logger name> to create code to copy/paste into a new log edit window here on the wiki to post a finished scene.

Finding Your Way About

+where this is a custom version that lists connected characters sorted by their locations.
+where2 layout of the original FS3 '+where', listing characters by name.
+map gives you a general overview over the region.
+home teleports you to your home room.
+meetme <name> invites someone to join you at your current location.
+hangouts shows a list of locations for public rp.
+hangouts <number> takes you to the location specified by the number.

Housing

Each character is entitled to have some private quarters on grid.

Some family homes have already some rooms that can be claimed: Whenever you find a hallway or room that has the '+dir' command mentioned in their room description, you can use this command to find out whether the adjoining rooms are taken or not. A vacant room can be claimed with the '+home/set' command.

You can also +request your personal room to be set with a description provided by you.

Any locations, especially those that are yet off grid or have more than one room, can be built by players at the construction site. Building projects will need to be reviewed by staff before they can be linked to the grid.

Once you have a home set up for you, you should use the '+home/set' command to link yourself to that room so that you can easily return there anytime by using the '+home' command.

Rolls and Stats

You can see your stats with the +sheet command. Please note that on this game, +sheets are not public. +sheet <name> won't work for players.

Simple Rolls

+roll <number> rolls a number of 8-sided dice
+roll <attribute> rolls as many 8-sided dice as you have specified in dots in the attribute
+roll <skill> rolls (skill+ruling attribute) dice
+roll <skill>+<attribute> rolls a skill with a specified attribute
+roll <specialty> rolls (specialty+skill+ruling attribute) dice
+roll <specialty>+<attribute> rolls a specialty with a specified attribute
+roll <ability>+<modifier> you can use modifiers in any rolls, regardless whether they pertain to attributes, skills or specialties.

Please note: You can roll a specialty even if you have only the base skill for the specialty but not the specialty itself. The +roll will automatically receive a -3 modifier, however. The +roll is harder but not impossible, and it might pay off to acquire said specialty, for the future.

Opposed Rolls

+roll <name1>=<ability1> vs <name2>=<ability2> rolls 8-sided dice and usually reports a winner

Again, you can use modifiers. You can even specify an NPC with a static number for the skill.

Advancing Your Character

Each week, any approved character will receive 2 XP. These can be accumulated to a maximum of 16. You can spend XP to raise an attribute, skill or specialty. You can also spend XP to learn an additional language.

Please note that raising attributes is very costly.

+xp/raise <ability> raises an attribute/skill/specialty
+xp/lang <language> lets you learn an additional language
+xp/costs lets you see an overview of the XP costs.

Finding RP

You can check out information about other characters here on the wiki or with the in game '+profile' command.

You can signal that you are looking for rp through the +rpsearch command. This will highlight your status in the '+who' and '+where2' commands.

You can join the RP channel and ask for rp there: '@chan/on rp'

Hooks

We have a hooks system on this game. You can add new hooks for your character and also delete older ones that are no longer valid. Hooks are visible to other players when they look at your +profile.

+hook/add <title>=<explanation> adds a new hook
+hook/delete <title> deletes an existing hook.

Relationships

Setting relationships on your character can point other players to things to rp about as well. Relationships are visible in your profile.

+relationship/set <name>=<type>/<explanation> adds or updates a relationship to a player.
+relationship/delete <name> deletes an existing relationship to a player.

Logging

Using a logger can be useful. Sometimes players have a shaky connection. At other times, it is intended to share the log of a scene afterwards, so it is handy to have a cleaned log with wiki code generated so that it can be posted to the wiki. The logger records emits and rolls. OOC chatter isn't recorded unless it's configured to.

If your char bit doesn't have a logger yet, you need to create it before you can use it:

@create <name>

To make it into a logger you need to execute the following commands:

drop <name>
+log/make <name>

In order for the logger to log, you need to turn it on:

+log/on <name>

Anyone in the room will be notified about the status, the status is also visible in the shortdesc of the logger object.

+log/capture <name> grabs participants, location, roomdesc, ic and ooc date for the log wiki header in one single handy command.

+log/wiki <name> creates wiki output to use for posting to the wiki.

If someone logs back on after getting disconnected, they can use the '+log/show <name>=X' command to see the last X entries of the log.

See '+help log' in game for a full list of the commands.

Cookies and Kudos

If you enjoy a scene, you can give +cookies to other players. You can +cookie each player once a week. +Cookies will help recipients to gain luck points. Luck can be used for rerolls or one time bonuses on rolls, see '+help luck' in game.

+cookie <player> gives a cookie to <player>
+cookie/here gives cookies to players in the room

If you want to give kudos to a player for handling a scene well, or for being helpful OOC, you can give kudos with the following command:

+kudos <player>=<your comment>

The other player will be able to see the comment but not who it came from.

There is no coded benefit you can gain from +kudos, it is a way to show appreciation for a player OOC.

Lore System and Researches

We have a lore system on this game. You can gain new information (known lore entries) either by having someone (staff or player) share them with you, or by starting a research.

Sharing lore information should usually be part of a scene, but there is code to use to actually share it. You can share any information you have in your list of known lore entries.

Anyone can start a +research. You will succeed, if there is any unknown information matching your research tags, but it may take longer for the less scholarly skilled to get the information. Once the time has passed, the lore system will share a random unknown lore entry that matches your research criteria with you.

+lore/known lists your known lore entries
+lore/view <number> shows details of lore entry with the specified number.
+lore/share <number>=<list of recipients> shares a lore entry with others.
+research <title>/<tag list>=<description> starts a research matching all of the tags in tag list.
+lore/tags lists current valid research tags.
+research/open lists your open researches.
+research/abort aborts your most recent open research.
