Game news:The Children of Gods

Until about 1222 the Children of Gods were hidden for their protection and limited on who knew who they were. To be a Child of Gods they typically have 1 God parent and 1 mortal parent. There has been an exception where a mortal has two God parents without a mortal one but that is rare and infrequent. Though, if their blood of a God was not awoken, they were ‘hidden’ in plain sight. It is when their blood was awakened that they were placed with someone, or thing trusted and hidden away from the rest of the world. They were hidden away, typically, with their mortal parent and their spouse or with someone or something (such as an animal or mythical beast) trusted by the family or Child. A Child is hidden with someone it is certain no betrayal will happen. There are not many Children of Gods in the world (there are millions of people, so it doesn’t matter how many PCs and named NPCs are one).

When a Child is awakened, they are blessed with a secondary power that is very abstract and it is like they are a genie granting wishes. The secondary power, when the conditions to activate it are met, empowers the parental God. The conditions often relate to something about the God or the Child but mainly the God. The more times this ‘magic’ is used the more it can evolve into something more tangible by forming a second branch to it. The second branch still relates what the magic is about, but it is something that is not abstract. A Child also gains a sacred item, which is made of the Child’s soul and partly of the blood of the God. They, usually, don’t get their object upon awakening but it is a task assigned by Mataya to find it. The sacred item can take any form and it embodies the Child with, perhaps, splinters of their parental God in it.

A hidden Child is not poorly treated or disregarded, as they are considered a blessing from the God who made them with a mortal. It doesn’t matter what their station in life was they are elevated to very important once they are born, more so when awoken. When possible, to avoid it the Children are not put in dangerous situations while hidden.

In the year of 1222 the rulers of Atharia, at the behest of the Gods, announced that the Children are to be found. Mataya even gave mortals a glowing orb necklace that can detect a Child of Gods that was awakened and indicate just who their parent God is by the color the orb glows. Those with the necklace need to be in a certain range of the awoken Child. Beyond that, the Gods are not very forthcoming with where the Children are, as expected of them but a God will often act as a guide to their Child if need be. Sometimes they are in a hidden form, sometimes they are not. Since they are no longer needed to be hidden the Children have a sanctuary called Elysium that was made by the Gods and is protected from outsiders not welcome by the Children.

Once a Child is found they do have the option of working towards ascending to Godhood by doing grand tasks that can be world changing or not ascending. There are rare cases where other options are available. These tasks are typically assigned by the Gods, at least 2 tasks per God, with the expectation to complete. There is no clear idea to what the tasks are. They could be as simple as 'hold the grandest soiree in the world' to 'defeat 1000 Y thing by X Day'. Each task is purely based on the God who assigns it. Mataya and Attia likely will have the easiest tasks to do while Ossian and Larthin will likely have the hardest. Though how hard or difficult a task is can change based on the mood of the Gods.

There is suspicion that the Children of Gods are one of the keys to cause Larthin to stop rewinding time.

Known Children:

IMPORTANT: The number of Children of Gods listed is the amount known to exist of the Children of Gods. Currently there are 12 known Children. 4 that belong to Larthin, 1 that belongs to Mataya, 1 that belongs to Mataya and Ossian, 3 that belong to Attia, 1 that belongs to Hilal, 2 that belong to Soleil, and 1 to Masquerade. Mataya and Ossian are unlikely to have many Children with mortals as they are mostly monogamous with each other. Though, if a good pitch is given it MIGHT be discussed and will likely need to involve 2 people, 1 for each God as Minerva is a geek and wants Ossian and Mataya to always have the same number of children.

1. Princess Kamala Divinus (NPC): Larthin's child. When she was found, she was about 8 and weeping over the dead body of her mortal parents. (Log: Children of Gods - The First Child is Found)
2. Prince Liam Santua (NPC): Larthin's child. When he was found he was 18 years old and isolated alone, save for his servant Essa Snow. She also came to Tranquil City. (Log: Children of Gods - The Second Child's Arrival)
3. Princess Valeria Santua: Attia's child. When she was seeking a supposed item related to the Children of Gods her and Ozymandias almost fell to their deaths. Attia awoke Valeria to save her. (Log: Children of Gods - The Third Child Falls in)
4. Archbishop Ozymandias Luminat: Ossian and Mataya's child. He was summoned by Ossian to a clearing in the forest where he was awoken by Ossian (Log: Children of Gods - The Fourth Child takes a Swim)
5. Paramour Amahle Sunflower: Attia's child. She accompanied Valeria to seek out her father, the temporarily missing king. She was awoken after she protected the king with vines. (Log: Children of Gods - The Vines of the Fifth Child)
6. Princess Taya Divinus: Larthin's Child. She accompanied Kamala on a task to find a tome but instead she was awoken and found her sacred item (Log: Children of Gods - The Maps of the Sixth Child)
7. Mistress Lilah Willowbrooke: A Lost God's Child. All the Children of Gods got woken to find the two Lost God's two Children on the outskirts of Luminat. Lilah and Tai were both also summoned. (Log: Children of Gods - The Seventh and Eighth Children are Found)
8. Lord Tai Farreach: A Lost God's Child. All the Children of Gods got woken to find the two Lost God's two Children on the outskirts of Luminat. Lilah and Tai were both also summoned. (Log: Children of Gods - The Seventh and Eighth Children are Found)
9. Prince Ren Choisi: Larthin's Child. A group was sent by Larthin to find his CHild and Ren was found sailing on the ocean. (Log: Children of Gods - The Ninth Child Sails In)
10. Acolyte Drew Whitewater: Masquerade's Child. People when to find the Hidden God and Drew was awakened at the same time (Log: Meddlesome Gods: Finding the Hidden God)
11. Matchmaker Aspen Woodrow: Soleil's Child. Aspen was protected by Soleil when the Council of Devoted tried to kill them (+bbread 13/9)
    1. Late one evening a fire broke out in the Residential District of Tranquil City. It quickly went out of control. It was said Matchmaker Aspen Woodrow’s house was the one set on fire and that they were in it. As the fire started going out of control the presence of Soleil could be felt among the flames as they worked to save the Matchmaker. As the fires burned those with the glowing orb necklace given by Mataya found it to light up a brilliant yellow and the presence of all the Gods, save for Soleil, could be felt spreading the reach of the orb necklaces to all points of Tranquil City to guide people to the Fire. For all the Gods to be involved with the lack of Soleil’s presence, it must mean Soleil is in trouble. It is well known that, somehow, the Council of the Devoted can hinder the Gods, just now how they do it. Those with the necklaces and everyone willing to help are quick to go to the fire and help put it out to save Aspen and Soleil. It is now clear Aspen is another Child of the Gods. Soleil was taken away by Hilal and Aspen was quickly brought to Elysium, the sanctuary of the Child of Gods, to heal comfortably.

       OOC: Aspen is a new roster that is a Child of Gods. So, the finding/awakening of Aspen was done off screen. IF you want to have been there, let me know. Child of Gods or not.

12. Princess Rajani Luminat: Mataya's Child. She was hidden away to be protected by a bishop of Mataya. (+bbread 10/6)
    1. Word spread from the Luminat Kingdom to all the kingdoms that King Jaden Luminat had a hidden child. It has been confirmed to be true by the Luminat royal family. Especially since King Jaden, Queen Marissa Luminat, and Treasured Garcia Skybloom confirm it with a speech that was echoed by the most skilled socialites and gossip spreaders. The speech given by Jaden was:

       "People of Luminat, no Atharia, I step forward to publicly reclaim Rajani as my daughter. With the blessings of my beautiful wife, Marissa, and beautiful Consort, Garcia Skybloom. Rajani is the Child of Mataya and I, since she was awakened in a time the Children were still hidden away from the rest of the world for their protection, I entrusted her to former Archbishop of Mataya, Bern. A person dear to me. I placed one of my precious, more so as a Child of Mataya, children in his and his partner's, Jannel, care. It was not a decision made lightly to let Rajani be hidden and to allow my friend and his partner to treat her as their daughter and she treat Bern as her father instead of me. Selfishly I wanted to raise my daughter like I have all my other children, but she was very young when she was awoken. In a time before it was safe for Children to be known. It was the hardest decision in my life I ever made. To send my child away. No decision since has proven to be harder. When it comes to my family, decisions involving them are harder than what I need to decide for my kingdom and those decisions are not easy either.

       I hope that Rajani can forgive me for not acknowledging her as my daughter until now. I will not expect her to call me 'Father', she can continue to refer to me as she always has or call me her father as well. The choice is hers. Bern and Jannel were her parents growing up. They did what I decided not to do in interest of her safety and well being. Rajani will be treated as a Princess of Luminat and a member of the Luminat family, as is her birthright. Anyone who treats her as anything but will face the wrath of the royal family of Luminat and of the Goddess Mataya. Who so rarely angers."

       That said the King, his Queen, and his Consort step away to return to their palace. Leaving behind shock and gossip going wild.

OOC: PCs can absolutely put in a request to be a Child of Gods. Keep in mind that becoming a Child of Gods and you decide to ascend means your character will gain restrictions if you want to play a God. The request must list who they want the parental God to be, or that they have no preference. A nice bonus would be including what kind of things you be fun for you/suits your character that can be done in the potential future scene of your character being awakened/discovered as a Child of Gods. There is no 'waiting' period to being a Child of Gods but if you try being one straight out of CG, it is likely more than 1 staffer will be reviewing the app.
